hazards of cooking day

tripped over my feet and dropped a full jar of spaghetti sauce. ugh! i'm surprised i didn't just SCREAM out of frustration. that kind of stuff really gets me mad. but i held it together. kept my cool. grabbed my camera and decided to blog about it. why get mad, really? what's that gonna do? right! :)

look, it splattered all the way up the refrigerator door

maybe I should just let the dog come in and lick it up. it seriously crossed my mind. but then again, that's a lot of sauce for one dog to lick up and she may barf if up on my carpet afterward.

i am SO annoyed! off to clean it up...

the longest "cooking day" EVER

Saturday I bought my groceries to cook for the month. I say that loosely because I'm cooking more like enough meals for a month and a half. I haven't cooked like this since the meal swap at chili's and the only reason is that I haven't made it a priority. I've regretted that I haven't done it each month. I prefer it this way. I DO NOT enjoy waking up and trying to figure out dinner. I'm not good at planning week by week so this seems to work best for me.

Anyway. I'm doing it...BUT is has taken me ALL WEEK! I usually will start at night and then finish up the next morning. Just didn't happen that way. I have done a little bit every morning this week. I'm almost finished up but this has been the longest "cooking day" EVER! :)

Here is what I've made:

Chicken:
Chicken Enchiladas (2)
Chicken & Pasta Salad
Angel Chicken Pasta
Judd's Chicken Tetrazini (2)
Teriyaki Chicken (2)
Chicken Burritos (11)
Spicy Chicken Tacos (3)
Chicken w/ Tomatoes & Peppers

Pork:
Sweet & Sour Pork Chops
Breaded Pork Chops

Beef:
Mushroom Pot Roast
French Onion Pot Roast

Ground Beef:
Hamburgers (16)
Baked Spaghetti (2)
Creamy Lasagna (2)
Stuffed Shells (2)
Beef Enchiladas (2)
Slow Cooker Spaghetti & Meatballs

Other:
Mac & Cheese (4 sides)
Broccoli Casserole (4 sides)

WHEW!

he remembered

Anthony got Krispy Kreme doughnuts for me this morning for my birthday!!!

it was a new tradition i started for us this year - doughnuts for your birthday breakfast! yesterday i thought he probably wasn't going to remember but i didn't want to remind him:

1. it's not fun to remind someone about the "tradition"

2. i don't really need to be eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts

BUT, he remembered! i was so excited! and i ate them! :)

we have a date night planned tomorrow night so we didn't really "celebrate" today. but that's OK, tomorrow will work just fine!

i love my man! :)

Addison's 1st Birthday Party - Eating the cake!

I'm telling you, there are a TON of pictures! :) Here is the cake play by play. She started off a little cautious and then quickly figured out she liked what we were giving her! Such a cutie!

the funniest part was that the kids who were watching her, started helping after a while. she didn't do all that damage herself! :) i think they were getting a little impatient and wanted a piece of cake! don't worry, we gave them some!

Addison's 1st Birthday Party - Cont.2

more party pix. mainly for the "book". not trying to overwhelm you. :)

we started off the party with snow cones. i've been wanting a snow cone machine for a couple of years. my friend Laura has one and at her house was the first time i saw one. so much fun and the kids LOVE it. perfect for HOT summer days. the party was my "excuse" to finally get one! :)

aren't the flower balloons adorable! i sent them home with the kids who came to the party.

Addison's 1st Birthday Party - Cont.

Addison had JUST learned to clap for her Birthday weekend. Perfect timing! :) She LOVES to clap and showed off her new trick for everyone to see!

Her fancy highchair that we decorated. I know, too much! :) I loved it!

Aren't those flower balloons the cutest! I got the idea from my friend Sue's blog. She used the idea for her daughters 1st Birthday party.

standing up like a big girl!

clapping again! :)

i'm so proud to be part of this little family!

our friends Vita and Romeo let us borrow their tent for the yard and it worked out perfectly. it gave some great shade and it was VERY hot that day! it was also very windy for some reason and Mom W. had a TERRIBLE time securing the table cloths. i wish they made plastic table cloths that have elastic...sort of like a fitted sheet. do they make something like that??? it was RIDICULOUS!
